From an early age, Filipa Biscaia showed interest in music, but it was when she entered college that she joined the Women’s Tuna of the University of Coimbra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here, she had the opportunity to sing as a soloist, interpreting traditional Portuguese themes, mainly Coimbra fado. Throughout this academic journey, she performed on various stages, such as the Teatro Circo in Braga, Teatro S\u00e1 daBandeira in Porto, and Teatro Garcia de Resende, which allowed her to grow as an artist. It was also within the academic environment that Filipa gained visibility at this level, and it was at the invitation of a cultural center in Coimbra, Fado ao Centro, that she began singing professionally fado in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2019, she moved to Lisbon and started singing in several fado houses. Today, she is a resident artist at Tasca do Chico and Solid\u00f3. Her major influences include names such as Jos\u00e9 Afonso, Adriano Correia de Oliveira, Am\u00e1lia Rodrigues, Fernanda Maria, and Maria Jos\u00e9 da Guia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move coincided with the beginning of the pandemic, but that didn’t demotivate her, and now she already has a first album to showcase. It’s called ‘Dois a dois’ (‘Two by Two’) because the songs come in pairs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
