Mona Wassef (Egypt)


Mona Wassef, An Egyptian Harpist and assistant harp professor at the Cairo Conservatory, Academy of art. Born in Cairo, started to study harp at age of eight at Cairo Conservatory with Dr.Samira Michel Professor of harp. In 1998, Mona became a principle harpist of Cairo Symphony orchestra and in 2000 she received the Bachelor in arts with an excellent degree.
Mona joined harp workshop with the Mediterranean youth orchestra in France in 1997 with Prof. M.C. Jamé and in 2000 with Prof. B. Silvestre. And she finished her post graduate studies in 2002 with an excellent degree. In 2003, Mona won the first prize from the harp competition which organized by the Ministry of Culture, and in 2005 she got a scholarship from the Fulbright Commission to study harp in the School of Music at the University of Arizona. And in 2008 she performed as a soloist in the inauguration of the Egyptian museum in Austria. Mona found Harp In Tour band and gave many successful concerts, and in 2009 she got her Master degree in art with an excellent degree. In 2010 she gave a Dou harp concert with her American professor Dr. Carrol Mclaughlin and Cairo Symphony orchestra at Cairo opera house for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Fulbright commission.
In 2016 she got her Doctoral degree in arts with an honor. Mona gave many solo and chamber music concerts at the Cairo opera house and with Cairo symphony orchestra. Also in different cultural centers, British embassy, Alex library and abroad in Jordan, United States, Japan, Germany and Vienna.
